It will take longer than it used to for renewing driver’s licenses in Texas because the TX DPS changed their policy and now will have to check each non-immigrant’s status with Dept. of Homeland Security. If you apply and are told that DPS cannot verify your I-94 in the system, that is normal. So, start the renewal process well in advance to avoid a lapse in your driving privileges.
